SO SAD;Tottenham Hotspur confirm the suspension of Rodrigo Bentancur
Two Tottenham players are now just one yellow card away from a suspension while another two are two bookings away from missing a game.
What are the Premier League’s suspension rules?
As per the rule book, players who pick up five yellow cards in the first half of the season will be suspended for one Premier League game.
That means that anyone who reaches that tally before gameweek 19 will have to sit out one match, and several Spurs stars are now in danger of suffering that fate.
Rodrigo Bentancur close to another Tottenham suspension
According to the Premier League’s website, Rodrigo Bentancur and Micky van de Ven are both on four yellow cards each, meaning that one more caution for either player will result in a suspension.
While this is not an issue for Rodrigo Bentancur, given that he is currently serving a seven-match ban, the Dutchman will have to be careful when he returns to the Tottenham XI in a couple of weeks.
Meanwhile, Yves Bissouma and Dejan Kulusevski are both on three yellow cards each, which means that if the pair get another two yellow cards within the next seven matches, they will have to serve a one-match suspension.
Dejan Kulusevski and Yves Bissouma in danger
Both Kulusevski and Bissouma are in danger of suspension as both players are no strangers to yellow cards, given their physical style of play.
Both players are likely to start every single one of the next six or seven Premier League matches, thus putting them at risk. With Bentancur already unavailable, Ange Postecoglou cannot afford to be without the Mali international for even one game.
Tottenham to take on Fulham
Tottenham face Fulham on Sunday and the stakes are high, with Spurs only three points off the top four in the Premier League table, but the same number of points is also what separates them from Manchester United in 12th place, so the pressure is on.
