Ollie Watkins insists Morgan Rogers “has the world at his feet” after they both scored in Aston Villa’s 3-1 win at Fulham on Saturday afternoon.
Rogers bagged his second league goal of the season to level the game up inside 10 minutes after Raul Jimenez’s early opener. Emi Martinez then denied Andreas Pereira from the penalty spot after Matty Cash was penalised for a handball in the box.
Watkins then put Villa in the lead on the hour mark by heading in Youri Tielemans’ corner, before Joachim Andersen received a red card for denying the striker a goal-scoring opportunity. Issa Diop scored an own goal minutes later to hand Villa a two-goal lead late on.
“I think it was entertaining for the fans,” Watkins told BBC Match of the Day. “We didn’t control the game as much as we wanted to in the first half.
In the second half we kept going and finally got there. I was disappointed with my opportunity in the first half. I tried to dink the keeper, but we kept going.
“We have a lot of players that can come on and score. It is good competition and it keeps you on your toes. It is only getting better for us and we see the direction the club is going in. It’s exciting times being a Villa player.”
