Northern Ireland youngster Scott Hamilton has left Linfield to join Nottingham Forest.
The teenager becomes the latest Linfield teen to move across the water in the summer of 2024 following deals for Braiden Graham at Everton, Ceadach O’Neill with Arsenal and Aodhan Doherty at Blackburn Rovers.
The 16-year-old forward has signed a two-year scholarship deal and will link up with the club’s Under-18 squad.
Forest stated: “Nottingham Forest is delighted to confirm Scott Hamilton has joined the club as a scholar, as part of the Under-18 squad.
“Having enjoyed a strong pre-season already with the team, Hamilton will continue his development at the club, joining as a scholar on a two-year deal, with the club retaining an option for an additional year.
“The 16-year-old forward arrives on Trentside from Linfield, adding to the strong contingent of Northern Irish young players at the club.Hamilton has recently been called up to the Northern Ireland Under-17 squad for upcoming friendlies against Turkey.
Head of Academy Chris McGuane believes that Hamilton’s signing shows the club are hungry to uncover promising talent.
“Scott has impressed our recruitment team over a long period, particularly the excellent Jimmy Calvin, who leads our Northern Ireland scouting process, and we are delighted to have him at the club,” he said.
“Our priority will always be the best local players.
“However, our new and expanding recruitment team will ensure Forest are competing for the best talent from further afield.
