Evertonβs stance on Jarrad Branthwaite has been firm but his recent contract demands have thrown a spanner in the works.
The Merseyside club have rejected two bids from Manchester United for the 22-year-old defender.
The latest offer from the Red Devils was worth up to Β£50million, but Everton insist that Jarrad Branthwaite will not be sold for less than his Β£70million valuation.
HITC revealed earlier this month that Unitedβs pursuit of Branthwaite is not over and that they are working on making a third bid.
Branthwaite has agreed personal terms over a move to Old Trafford and HITC understands he is eager to become a United player this summer.
According to the Daily Mail, Branthwaite has no intention of signing a new contract with Everton unless they match the Β£160,000 per week offered by United.

Finance expert on Jarrad Branthwaite contract demands
The collapsed takeover deal at Everton did not shake their Β£70million valuation of Branthwaite, but his new wage demands would stretch the wage structure at Goodison Park.
GRV Mediaβs Head of Football Finance, Adam Williams, spoke exclusively to HITC about whether Everton can handle Branthwaiteβs demands and if it could change their stance on selling him to Manchester United.

βFarhad Moshiriβs reign has been characterised by abysmal cost control β both in terms of the wage bill and transfer fees. At the last count, they had the worst wages-to-turnover ratio of any Premier League club,β he said.
βGiven their existing PSR issues and the fact that the Premier League is moving towards a squad cost control model, they know they canβt go on like that.
βThe club accounts donβt provide a breakdown of player wages. But their overall wage bill in the last financial year was Β£159million, and reports suggest that Pickford is their biggest earner on Β£150,000-a-week.
βYou have to be careful with these headline figures, as a large chunk of that figure will be incentive-based.
βBut that suggests that Branthwaite would marginally become Evertonβs biggest earner if they do match Unitedβs offer.β
Everton stance on selling Jarrad Branthwaite
Everton have rebuffed all interest in Branthwaite so far this summer and are refusing to be bullied into a sale.
But with mounting financial pressure, Williams explains whether Everton may be forced to change their transfer stance.
βEverton arenβt under pressure to sell at present, but that might not be the case in the not-too-distant future,β Williams explained.

βIf the takeover is not resolved in the next few months, I donβt think itβs scaremongering to say that there will be concerns about cash flow.
βThat will reduce their leverage, because the likes of United will know that Everton need to generate cash.β
