Neil Harris confirms when Daniel Kelly will ‘officially’ join Millwall from Celtic

Already this season, the Celtic fans have watched Rocco Vata leave the club to join Watford

Both players were given a chance to impress Rodgers last season and were offered new deals to stay at Celtic, but for whatever reason it seems that they have decided to pursue their careers elsewhere.

And now that Kelly has signed for Millwall after talks were held this week, his new boss, Neil Harris has shared when he will officially join the Championship club.

and now, Daniel Kelly will be the next youngster to make his Celtic Park exit after agreeing a deal to join Millwall this week

Harris said [South London News], “Dan has agreed to join the club. A deal has been agreed and he has signed. He officially joins us in January.

“He is a young player that falls into the mould of Romain, Aidomo and Alfie – that we think has got huge potential.

“We want to be that football club that brings players in and gives them that opportunity. It is the only way for us as a football club to evolve and develop is by playing younge

He (Kelly) is a very good player. When Dan first walks into the building he is not going to be someone that everyone should expect to go straight into the team.

“He is very young but everyone should take heart that they’ve seen Alfie Massey make his debut tonight and it was an outstanding performance.

“Dan is a box-to-box midfielder, probably an old-fashioned eight, who has great energy. I’d liken him to a young George Saville when he first came into the football club – breaks into the box and scores goals.

  • “He has got passion and real aggression to his play.”

This update will be disappointing for the Celtic fans as young Kelly is a player who showed some real potential last season.

With his contract expiring in December, Kelly failed to agree a new deal which led to Brendan Rodgers taking a hardline stance with the 18-year-old and dropping the youngster from Celtic’s pre-season preparations this summer.

Kelly now heads to England where he will be hoping to showcase the potential the Celtic fans got a glimpse of during his six first-team outings at the club last season.
