Julen Lopetegui faces an extremely uncertain future in charge of West Ham United.
West Ham have made a terrible start to the 2024/25 season, and Julen Lopetegui is under serious pressure.David Sullivan is said to be very underwhelmed by Lopetegui’s performance at West Ham so far, and it’s little wonder as to why.
The Hammers head coach has failed to implement a discernible playing style, and he is struggling to get his new signings to gel together as a unit.
The atmosphere at the London Stadium is toxic right now, and I feel like a managerial change is desperately needed.
There are actually plenty of options out there, and one in particular who is looking quite appealing right now.
Well-known manager tipped to replace Julen Lopetegui at West Ham
If the Hammers suffer defeats to Newcastle and Arsenal after the international break, it will be no surprise to see Lopetegui moved on.
The problem for David Sullivan will be finding a suitable However, there is one man out there who might just be perfect for us.
Ruud van Nistelrooy is someone who I think would be able to implement a far better brand of football at the London Stadium than Lopetegui has been able to.
And now talkSPORT pundit Rory Jennings has suggested that the Hammers would be the ideal club for the 48-year-old.
“I think West Ham is actually the perfect club,” Jennings said.
“If you think about what West Ham fans are in need of at the moment, if you think about the way they’re feeling and I think the way they’ve been short-changed by their ownership, I think Ruud van Nistelrooy is a tonic.
“Ruud van Nistelrooy is exactly what they were demanding, that is the sort of appointment that not only demanded but what West Ham fans deserve off the back of their protests about David Moyes leaving the club.
“When West Ham fans were demanding David Moyes out, even before they won in Prague, you know when they were at Fulham with the banner, they were demanding a young, exciting and progressive manager who was in keeping with the traditions of West Ham United.
“That is not Julen Lopetegui, that is Ruud van Nistelrooy”.
I actually agree with Jennings here.
From 50 senior games managed, Van Nistelrooy has a win percentage of 64% (Footy Stats) – a fairly impressive record.
His spell in charge of PSV Eindhoven was an incredibly successful one as well.
He guided PSV to the KNVB Cup in 2023, and had his team playing some fantastic football.
The Dutchman always insisted on his players pressing aggressively high up the pitch, insisted on his players creating overloads in wide areas, and high energy performances were non-negotiable.
Ruud van Nistelrooy would be a fine replacement for Julen Lopetegui at West Ham, but it still remains to be seen whether or not the Hammers board are prepared to part ways with the Spaniard. who is actually available.
