Travis Hunter ‘betrays’ his brand by going to the competition
The Colorado WR and recent Heisman Trophy winner already enjoys a juicy contract with adidas
The story of two of the greatest prospects in the NFL for the next Draft is told on and off the field, with the ball and also with their contracts in mind for their almost nascent history as professionals.
So Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders will already be more prosperous in their last outing together as collegiate players on December 28 at the Alamo Bowl with the Colorado Buffaloes.
While Deion Sanders’ son signed a lucrative deal with Nike, becoming the first football player with NIL, Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter did so with Adidas, and many claim that with this fact he ‘betrayed’ his brand with which he feels comfortable playing, as it is known that he likes their items, in addition to the fact that it dresses his current team.
Travis Hunter could have signed with Nike
However, some claim that although the ‘swoosh’ may have had a hand in the wide receiver, he would have preferred the competition after they decided to sign his great friend and teammate, and that something broke between the brand and him, a gap into which the German brand got fully involved and of which Hunter expresses himself as follows: “They never hid anything from me and the more conversations I have the more I feel at home”.
Some narratives claim that Hunter ‘easily’ signed with adidas because he was able to get his brother Trayvis, who will attend Tennessee State University, into the contract, which they assume is adidas’ response to the building of the Sanders family tree with Nike.
Hunter and Sanders are already big business
Both Hunter and Sanders are represented by the same agency and it seems that they will find some formula that unites their images as professionals despite having ‘conflicting’ sponsors.
Hunter commented on the presentation of his deal with adidas: “Working with Adidas is a special opportunity for me and something I’m really excited about”, and the firm immediately reciprocated by already making a couple of shoe models available in its stores that allude to its new ‘protege’
Of course, the NIL valuation of both college football stars went through the roof, and after their arrival in the NFL their income will be boosted with the arrival of more sponsors, there is no doubt about that. There is enough room for both of them.
