Former Brentford star announces shock retirement after just 23 minutes for new club…

West Ham travel to West London to take on Brentford in the Premier League tomorrow afternoon, where a positive performance and result will be a matter of necessity for Julen Lopetegui.

And Paul Merson has suggested that he’ll be shocked’ if something very specific doesn’t happen.

Things are looking bleak at the London Stadium right now, and we desperately need something positive to happen against Brentford.

West Ham have already been dealt a blow with the news that we have a Simon Hooper and David Coote double act in charge of officiating our game against the Bees.

However, Thomas Frank has some issues of his own as well.

Brentford could be without as many as eight key players for the Hammers clash, so the door is certainly wide open for us.

But what does Merson think the outcome will be?

However, Paul Merson is expecting quite the opposite it seems.

The famous football pundit wrote his regular column for Sportskeeda, and predicted the outcome of the London derby.

He said he’d be shocked if West Ham don’t lose…wow!

Merson explained, I tell you what, West Ham are in big trouble! I always say be careful of what you wish for. They got rid of David Moyes after he won them a European trophy and now the new manager is struggling.

They’re up against Brentford next and I’d be shocked if they don’t lose this game, he continued. I don’t see a lot between these teams on paper, but the way they’re playing at the moment, there’s certainly a huge gap.

Julen Lopetegui has to get a positive result in the next few games. West Ham fans won’t be happy with what they’ve seen so far this season. In terms of the talent they have in that team, it’s one of their best sides ever. But they are not gelling together on the pitch and the manager still hasn’t figured out his best XI.

Everyone will expect West Ham to turn up and win, so this is a really difficult game for them due to the added pressure and worrying form.
