Ex-Rangers defender makes star-studded XI of players who retired too early…

Antonio Colak has spoken to the Swedish media about his time at Rangers, following his brief spell at Ibrox. Philippe Clement’s side take on Malmo in the Europa League tonight, another of Colak’s former clubs.

In an interview with Fotbollskanalen, Colak was asked about his time at Rangers and how his move came about after playing against them whilst on loan with Malmo. The German forward said it was one of the best moments of his career to play for the Glasgow club and he believes his performance for Malmo against Rangers got him a move to Ibrox. He still has fond memories of playing for the Swedish club, so his loyalties will likely be somewhat split when kick-off comes.

“Yes, a little, I think. It’s obviously the highlight of my career, when people ask about my best game, I think it was the one. That I became a Rangers player a year later was truly unbelievable. It was fate as you say, but with Malmo I had many, many great memories,” said the 31-year-old.

Colak spent just a season with Rangers after he signed for the club from PAOK during the 2002 summer transfer window. The attacker went on to score 18 goals in 39 games for Rangers but was sold to Parma 12 months after arriving at the club.
