Ex-Leeds United man pens new Ipswich Town contract and offers Kalvin Phillips verdict
Leif Davis has signed a new long-term contract with Premier League side Ipswich Town
Ipswich Town’s Leif Davis has put pen to paper on a new long-term deal with the club, securing his future until 2028.
The 24 year-old-defender, who made the switch from Leeds United in 2022, has been instrumental in Ipswich’s climb from League One to the Premier League under the guidance of manager Kieran McKenna.
“I have loved my time at the club so far and have improved so much during my two seasons here working with this group of players and under a manager who has done so much for me,” said Davis on the club’s official website. He added: “This feels like home now and I am excited to continue the journey.”
Manager McKenna praised Davis, saying: “Leif has made huge strides over the last two-and-a-half seasons and has developed well, both as a player and as a young man.”
He continued: “We are excited to have the opportunity to work with him for an extended period and are confident he will continue to work hard to improve and develop in all areas.”
Attacking full-back Davis spoke to former United midfielder Kalvin Phillips before the England international completed his loan switch to Portman Road last month. “I’ve played with him when he was at Leeds,” Davis said. “He’s had a tough few years but he never let it get to him. He always tried to do everything he could to try and play his best.
“Now he’s here, he’s happy and playing with us. Hopefully he can get that first goal soon.”
