Everton takeover and transfer news LIVE – Tchatchoua battle, Lindstrom agreement, Rios £76m price

Amadou Onana has departed Everton for Aston Villa in a deal worth £50m plus add-ons. The midfielder’s move marking the latest piece of business in a busy summer to date. The sale of the 22-year-old was widely expected this summer and factored in to Everton’s transfer strategy. The only question was where he would move to, and Villa emerged as the winner when the Champions League club were the first of several interested parties to make a formal move.

Attention will now turn to other priorities in the squad – the biggest of which are currently resolving the uncertainty around the future of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and boosting Sean Dyche’s options out wide. Jesper Lindstrom, of Napoli, is one target, while Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto has long been of interest. While director of football Kevin Thelwell is working hard in the transfer market, Dyche will have the players working hard on the pitch, with his notorious Gaffer’s Day scheduled for this week. Many of the players believed it would be today.
