Everton make fresh move to sign £13m midfielder who they now want to sign ‘quickly’

Admittedly, welcoming Brighton and Hove Albion was never going to be an easy task, buoyed by a new manager and bolstered by a whole host of new, expensive faces.

They are the kind of side every team aspires to emulate, and even if the Toffees had the better of the opening 60 minutes, they still found themselves 2-0 down and with a red card just around the corner.

That recklessness from Ashley Young proved pivotal in killing off the game, and has left the Toffees extremely light in the right-back position now.

And yet, despite this glaring weakness which has been evident for years now, and Kevin Thelwell are still directing their attention to the midfield.

However, he’s been  Manchester United and Newcastle United this summer, with his future still up in the air – potentially still leaving Goodison before the end of the window.

It wouldn’t be the end of the world if the Toffees let the 27-year-old leave the club, with Nketiah posting numerous figures last season that blow the current Everton man out of the water.Arsenal ace, as described by journalist James Olley, may have registered fewer combined goals and assists last campaign, but managed a after featuring for fewer minutes in 2023/24.Nketiah also managed a better than his fellow countryman, showcasing that he’s a more clinical option in front of goal than the target man – handing Dyche with a greater chance of rectifying their abysmal goalscoring record.
