Everton get injury boost as strikers step up comebacks..

might be the international break but there are still plenty of Everton players training back at Finch Farm as the Blues prepare for their home game against Brentford a week on Saturday.

Jordan Pickford is away with England who play in Greece tonight and had been joined by Jarrad Branthwaite before he withdrew through injury; Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gueye have been called up for Senegal; Jake O’Brien for the Republic of Ireland; Orel Mangala for Belgium; Beto for Guinea-Bissau, and Vitalii Mykolenko for Ukraine, with other squad members on age-group international duty.

But a significant core of Sean Dyche’s squad have remained on Merseyside.

Photographs from a training session at Everton’s Finch Farm complex in Halewood taken on Tuesday show plenty of stars in action, including some players who are working on their fitness as the step up their comebacks from injuries. Top scorer Dwight McNeil, with four goals so far this term and sporting a more clean-shaven look than his usual stubble, is shown both in the gym and taking part in contact sessions outside, having missed the Blues’ last fixture, a goalless draw at West Ham United last Saturday, with a knee injury.

Striker Armando Broja, a deadline day loan signing from Chelsea is also taking part in a training match. Fellow frontman Youssef Chermiti seems to have further to go on his road back to fitness but he appears in good spirits as he winks at the camera when snapped in the gym.
