Contract Termination: Brisbane Broncos halfback, Adam Reynolds contract has been terminated due to what he did…..

‘I’m worried’: Fears for Broncos GF hangover as Reynolds contract call brought into question

The decision to extend Broncos halfback Adam Reynolds has been called into question after the champion halfback faltered late in the grand final.

Reynolds has penned a one-year deal on significantly less than his current $750,000 per season in a move that will keep him at the club until the end of 2025.

The 33-year-old joined Brisbane on a three-year deal ahead of the 2022 season after South Sydney refused to offer the ageing playmaker more than a one-year deal.

But he proved the Rabbitohs wrong by captaining the Broncos – who collected the wooden spoon in 2020 – to the grand final last year.

Brisbane were ahead 24-8 with 17 minutes left in the decider before a Nathan Cleary masterclass saw the Panthers clinch their threepeat with a 26-24 victory.

Reynolds’ performance late in the match came under criticism at the time and now veteran journalist Phil ‘Buzz’ Rothfield has questioned the decision to re-sign him.

“Adam Reynolds, in the grand final I thought his last 17 minutes was as poor as Cleary was great,” Rothfield said on NRL 360 in Las Vegas.

“They’ve just re-signed him, with his age should they have waited until mid-year?”

Paul Kent disagreed and rebutted with “No, he looks good” before Rothfield hit back with “He didn’t look good in the grand final”.
