Atalanta have seen a FOURTH transfer offer for Matt O’Riley rejected, according to a report.
The Serie A side are one of many who are interested in the Hoops midfielder and have already lodged a series of bids. The first was for £15million plus add-ons which was way below Celts’ valuation of at least £25m and their improved offers only represented slight increased. Now, Sky Sports is reporting that Atalanta have come back in with another proposal of £20m but it has once again been instantly rejected by the Scottish champions. Celtic are determined to bring in a record sale for a Scottish club, which they currently hold with £25m for Arsenal and Jota to Al-Ittihad.The Bergamo outfit seem determined to land the 23-year-old but will still need to up the ante significantly in order to do so. Brighton are also believed to be in talks with Celtic for while Southampton are also keen with his former MK Dons boss Russell Martin in charge there.
O’Riley scored 19 goals with 18 assists in 49 appearances and doesn’t look like he’s letting the speculation affect him after a strong display against Kilmarnock last week.
spoke on the situation once again yesterday and said: “For the likes of Matt, he’s been fantastic. People might say ‘Do you have to be not nice to get a move’ and that’s not the case. He’s a good guy, his training is exemplary and if a club meets the valuation that the club thinks he is worth and can go then that will happen. I repeat, the value of the players will have to be matched before the club can consider it.”
