Celtic ready to hijack Rangers deal after talks open – sources

Celtic are plotting to hijack Rangers’ deal for Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Scottish champions are working to bring Mejbri to Celtic Park rather than Ibrox. The 21-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements by Man United and sources say the Premier League club will accept a “significant” offer.

The player is said to be keen on a move to either Celtic or Rangers as they both offer the opportunity to play European football.

Celtic are planning an ambush of their big rivals after Rangers opened preliminary talks over a deal this month.

The Tunisia international broke into the Man United first team back in 2021 but has struggled to hold down a spot with only 13 appearances and one goal.

Mejbri spent the second half of last season on loan at Spanish club Sevilla but failed to score in his six appearances at the club.
