Leicester saw fit to pay from Genk to add further creativity to Cooper’s side and could continue their spending to address another crucial area before tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline.

Leicester were boosted ahead of their first game of the new season as Jamie Vardy unexpectedly declared himself fit despite picking up an injury in the first friendly of pre-season.

Vardy is Leicester’s talisman but will need help with the goalscoring burden at 37 and, with with an ankle problem, Cooper could dip into the loan market to sign another striker on Deadline Day.

That is according to who name Chelsea duo David Datro Fofana and Armando Broja as strikers the club have been linked with this summer.

The Leicestershire Live report states that ‘while they may be available on quick loan deals, City’s interest in them has so far not been backed up’.

The report goes on to add: ‘But it’s possible, with all of the moving parts on deadline day, that another loan striker could emerge. It may be a case of City acting opportunistically’.

It is also claimed in the report that a striker ‘feels like the only potential incoming deal. Otherwise, the focus is on outgoings’.
