BREAKING: Newcastle could be without three players vs West Ham as Eddie Howe faces anxious wait..

Playing primarily as an attacking midfielder, Maza has started in all 12 of Hertha Berlin’s 2. Bundesliga games, scoring four goals and assisting a further two in 14 appearances in all competitions.

The 18-year-old talent played for Germany at youth level, but received his first call-up and cap for the Algerian national side last month. He’s also represented by CAA Stellar; the same agency that looks after Nick Pope, Will Osula and a few of our Academy prospects.

Plettenberg states that there is likely to be departures at Hertha next summer should the German club fail to achieve promotion back to the Bundesliga and it’s thought Maza would be one of the first out of the door given the interest from a number of Premier League clubs.

Sky Germany report that Newcastle have plenty of competition, with the likes of Southampton, Wolves, West Ham, Brentford, Fulham and Leicester all keeping an eye on the teenager. As a result, having European football to offer him could be huge should we make a move next summer.

It’s claimed that Maza’s valuation would be around €10-20m and after bringing in William Osula in the summer for £10m, Newcastle have already proved that we’re willing to invest decent money in young talent
