The early signs are promising when it comes to Nottingham Forest’s transfer business this summer.
Doing the right deals can be key to the Reds making progress in the Premier League next season as they look to move away from facing another relegation battle. The club know they need to get it right.
In Carlos Miguel, Elliot Anderson and Eric da Silva Moreira, they seem to have made some good additions. Moreira is a promising young talent, Anderson’s versatility will be incredibly useful and Miguel will battle with Matz Sels for the No.1 spot. Fans may have to wait a while to see fellow new recruit Marko Stamenic as he will spend the campaign on loan at Olympiacos.
Forest appear to have made an encouraging start to the window. But the club will know as well as anyone that there are no guarantees when it comes to the success or otherwise. Just like every other team across the globe, the Reds have had mixed fortunes through the years over players brought in.
This is the 15th transfer window with owner Evangelos Marinakis at the helm. In that time, 131 signings have been made – so far – with varying degrees of impact from those who have put pen to paper at the City Ground.
Below, we have given a rating out of 10 on every signing of the Marinakis era, taking into account impact, potential, length of service and transfer fee. Where players have signed more than once (e.g. two separate loan spells or a loan and then a permanent deal) we have included them in the window when they first arrived. This article was first published in September 2023, and we have tweaked some of the ratings for some players who have since had an opportunity to bed in.

Marko Stamenic 6, Eric da Silva Moreira 7, Elliot Anderson 7.5, Carlos Miguel 7.
Judging the impact of this summer’s recruits is tough so early on in the window. But on the face of it, Forest have done some really good business. Anderson, in particular, has the potential to become a key player in Nuno’s side. Moreira is highly regarded and Miguel comes recommended by Murillo, which is not a bad indication of his talent.
