Alan Myers says he no longer thinks Everton will sign £25m player this summer

Their financial troubles, and recent Premier League season wrought with deductions, will have most players fearful of what might be next in line for the Toffees.

However, what those who snub the opportunity fail to see is the brighter, more sustainable future being forged, set to be further enhanced by moving into their new stadium too.

Even that allure is seemingly not proving enough for one target, with a club so stubborn that their inability to strike a deal has now spanned way over 12 months.Athough has been longstanding, fears over how long it is taking are only growing. After all, last summer was completely overtaken by a saga involving the Toffees and the 20-year-old, and ended in their inability to convince Leeds United to part ways.

And now, in what is so often a killer blow for transfer rumours, Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers has come out and had his say on the matter.

Asked by a fan if the deal for Gnonto was more or less dead, his reply was hardly inspiring, simply Nothing is ever over till it’s over, but I’m not expecting it atm.’
