Leeds United ace Max Wober proved his worth for Austria once again in their 1-1 Nations League draw against Slovenia on Sunday.
The defender has been out of action for some time recently due to an injury he sustained, but he slotted straight into the starting XI of his national side with no problems.
The Austrian media shared their thoughts on his performance, with Kurier (18 November) crowning him the Man of the Match and reporting that “he shone” for the team”.
The report added: “The main thing was to hold the position when we had a lot of ball possession. If the England legionnaire had to fight a duel, he won it.
“Moving forward, he shone with a great transition pass with his weaker right foot to [Christoph] Baumgartner before making it 1-0. Austria’s best this evening”.Leeds United may have a selection dilemma on their hands after what Max Wober did
Wober was part of Leeds’ trio that were all ruled out at the same which caused a bit of a headache for Daniel Farke.
Indeed, Josuha Guilavogui was brought in to help provide cover in their absence and to help guide the team’s youngsters, but the German would have no doubt preferred to have Wober among his options.
The Austria international has been the Whites’ third-choice centre-back this term thanks to the formidable performances of Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk.Since he didn’t get his Elland Road exit in the summer, he’s had to fight for his place in the team and after this performance, he could have given his manager a bit of a selection headache.
Struijk and Rodon have played almost every minute of every game for the West Yorkshire outfit but, with Wober now in decent form, resting one of them for the former RB Salzburg man seems like a good idea.
