Dominic Calvert-Lewin decides which club he wants to quit Everton to sign for
Besiktas have emerged as Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s “favoured” move as he looks for a potential Everton exit this season, according to Fotomac.
The Turkish outlet reported via their website on 24 October that the Englishman “may head to Turkey” at the end of the 2024/25 season.
Besiktas won’t be alone in their chase for Calvert-Lewin, however, as Arsenal, Newcastle United and Manchester United are also “closely following” the situation of the 27-year-old.
Everton must keep Dominic Calvert-Lewin at Goodison Park
Calvert-Lewin is Everton’s best striker within their ranks at the moment. He may not have had as much of an impact on the Toffees’ team this season as he’d have liked to but without him in the set-up, Sean Dyche’s team looks notably worse.
Indeed, Armando Broja was brought in on deadline day to help bolster their number nine ranks but as he’s been hampered by an injury since his arrival, he’s yet to prove his worth.
Upon the Albania international’s return, he could well pip the Englishman to the starting spot in Dyche’s squad but, looking at his returns over the last few seasons, the fact he hasn’t hit double figures for goals since his Eredivisie stint in the 2020/21 season doesn’t bode well for the striker.
Granted, his injury history has likely had a massive part to play in his lack of goals but when called upon, it feels like he should have done far better.
Only time will tell what happens with Calvert-Lewin’s Everton contract but since the two parties have already entered extension talks, things are looking positive for the Merseyside outfit despite these latest developments.
