Nuno Espirito Santo says £5m Nottingham Forest ace was the ‘best’ vs Crystal Palace, not Elliot Anderson
Nottingham Forest defeated Crystal Palace 1-0 on Monday night to climb back into the top half of the Premier League.
The Reds won courtesy of Chris Wood and after the game, he was praised by Ally McCoist for his efforts.
Nuno Espirito Santo deserves a lot of praise for his team’s start to the season and up next is a trip to Leicester City.
The Forest head coach won’t get to lock horns with Steve Cooper as such as he’s currently in the midst of a three-match touchline ban.
Espirito Santo will once again be in the stands at the King Power Stadium – much like he was on Monday night at the City Ground.
The Forest boss did front up for the media though after the 1-0 win and he delivered his verdict on who he thought the Man of the Match was.
Nuno Espirito Santo names who he thinks the best Forest player was vs Crystal Palace
Forest enjoyed a very solid performance against Palace and there were a number of top performers.
Adrian Durham hailed Elliot Anderson for his performance, whilst Nicolas Dominguez and Ryan Yates played well in midfield.
But none of those players got the nod from Espirito Santo, with goalkeeper Matz Sels instead coming in for praise from the boss.
He told BBC Sport: “Our goalkeeper Mats was the best player on our team, that says a lot for how tough it was.
“It says a lot about the quality of Palace and how they make us defend, but we were happy to do that.”
Sels has won Forest points during the last two games
It wasn’t long ago that Shay Given was slating Sels for his part in a Danny Welbeck free kick being scored against Forest.
