The Whites eventually added Largie Ramazani, Manor Solomon, Ao Tanaka and Isaac Schmidt during the final week of the transfer window, but fans were still disappointed by some of the missed signings.
Jonathan Rowe was certainly one of those players, having raised some eyebrows during his days at Norwich City before earning a move to Ligue 1 side Marseille.
It is understood the Whites made two separate bids for the player during the window, though neither met Norwich’s £15million asking price [HITC].The 21-year-old winger has already hit the ground running in France, scoring an “incredible” winner in a thrilling 3-2 win over Lyon on Sunday 22 September, hitting the back of the net in the fifth minute of added time [X].
Despite missing several games through injury last season, Rowe was one of the most exciting players in the Championship, notching 12 goals and two assists for the Canaries.
While he has seen little game time since moving to Ligue 1, yet to earn a start for Marseille, Rowe’s talent and skill are still on show for the world to see after his stunner against Lyon.
Sadly, the Whites will never find out what could have been, having chosen not to reach the required price tag to bring the 21-year-old winger to West Yorkshire.
