bad news for Nottingham Forest:He might not return…

The Reds signed eleven new players, with two of them joining Olympiacos on a season-long loan, and over 20 players were cut from the squad.

Forest binned the scattergun approach to transfers and instead opted for a streamlined approach with George Syrianos spearheading the business.

It would appear that the club targeted other players but didn’t manage to get them over the line.

Santiago Gimenez was a striker that Forest really liked but he had a change of heart on a number of occasions.

It’s been claimed by Globo Esporte that Forest tried to sign the Palmeiras youngster in the summer but couldn’t tempt the club into a sale.

Forest have a track record of shopping in Brazil, with Danilo and Gustavo Scarpa previously joining from Palmeiras.

However, an offer of £5 million was well short of what the club wanted to recoup for their 18-year-old talent and stood firm.

Now, the player is going to be rewarded with a new contract and a release clause worth around £95 million.

Naturally, Palmeiras will accept offers that are considerably less but that level of protection pretty much means they can demand whatever they want for Filippi.

As the talented player has only recently turned 18, he wouldn’t have actually been able to sign for Forest until January 2025 at the earliest but it feels like Palmeiras want to keep him anyway.
