Hart, who previously oversaw Leeds’ academy in the 1990s, made over 190 appearances during five years at the club as a central defender before signing for Nottingham Forest in 1983.
He has had spells as manager at Chesterfield, Forest, Barnsley, Portsmouth, QPR, Crystal Palace, Swindon and Notts County.
During his first spell as academy manager at Leeds, Hart guided the club to FA Youth Cup successes in 1993 and 1997 and returned to replace Redfearn as academy director in August last year.
