Nottingham forest have received €25m proposal for Taiwo Awoniyi from Napoli but still not enough..

Although Forest have made eight signings already this summer, the Reds have also seen a number of players depart.

Despite having just signed, they are unable to land Daniel Podence from Wolves.

However, there could now be a striker coming through the doors over the coming days with Alex Crook sharing a fresh update.

Speaking on on Friday morning [7:56am], Crook claimed a deal for Eddie Nketiah is now close to being completed.

“It is close. And it is no surprise. Speaking to someone close to Arsenal 48 hours ago, they were quite confident that Merino in would get done and Eddie Nketiah to Forest out would be done as well, so we are keeping an eye on both of those deals,

Arsenal held their press conference on Friday morning and Mikel Arteta was quizzed on the future of Nketiah.

before the deadline next week.

“I expect Eddie to train with us today. To be prepared for tomorrow. Whatever happens will happen if it’s good for everybody,” he said.

This is certainly a positive sign but it just a shame that Forest are not going to be able to bring the ‘‘ Nketiah into the club ahead of the game against Southampton on Saturday.

However, the Reds will be encouraged by Chris Wood’s goal on the opening day as they look to really solve the issues in front of goal they experienced last season.
