CELTIC Chris Sutton reacts as Celtic close in on the signing of Norwich City striker Adam Idah

Chris Sutton has taken to X (formerly known as Twitter) to react after are closing in on the signing of Norwich City striker Adam Idah.

The Hoops have agreed a deal worth up to £9.5 million for the Republic of Ireland international having been impressed with his performances during his six-month loan spell at the Parkhead club last season.

Idah is very much interested in joining Celtic permanently and is expected to agree terms on a long-term contract, with the Bhoys parting with an initial £8.5m, while another £1m would be paid in add-ons if certain clauses are triggered going forward.

Sutton has constantly called Celtic out about the need for them to sign the Norwich star permanently, and he is now set to get his wish, reacting thus to the update from Sky Sports.

 

Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers wanted to seal a move for Idah as soon as possible after the 23-year-old notched nine goals in 19 appearances – including the winner in the Scottish Cup final against

Norwich have also inserted a 15 per cent sell-on clause into the deal and will hope the striker impresses and seal a bigger move soon so as to get a sizeable windfall from his next transfer.

Celtic saw a bid of £4m rejected in July before returning with a new improved offer in excess of £6m plus add-ons.

As a result, both clubs resumed talks last week and have now reached an agreement.

Sutton recently that it will be a huge risk for Celtic to gamble on Kyogo Furuhashi being their only recognised striker for the campaign, and adding Idah to their attacking ranks again is a massive boost.

The Scottish Premiership defending champions have started 2024-25 with back-to-back league victories over Kilmarnock and Hibernian, and Rodgers will be eyeing the domestic treble and also ensure that his side puts up an impressive performance in the Champions League.
