Sam Lammers rejects fresh Rangers transfer exit option as club’s boss admits talks fell apart

Sam Lammers has rejected the chance to sign for NEC Nijmigen as they become the latest Dutch side to miss out on the Rangers outcast.

The Ibrox side desperately want the striker and his hefty wages off their books in order to free up funds and space for incoming players. Lammers shone on loan at Utrecht in the second half of last season and they were initially very keen on taking him back on a permanent basis.

But it soon became apparent they couldn’t afford to do so as the 27-year-old’s Gers salary is THREE times that of their highest paid player, and he was unwilling to accept anything less to move. FC Twente and AZ Alkmaar were also interested but it was a similar story as both were also priced out of signing the Dutchman.
