Kasper Schmeichel has been flooded with thousands of messages after his move to Celtic was finally announced. And there are some big names among them.
The Denmark No1 was yesterday unveiled as a Hoops player after putting pen to paper on a one-year deal. Schmeichel, who replaces the recently retired Joe Hart between the sticks, is now poised to jet out to the USA to meet up with his new teammates at their summer training camp.
The Premier League-winning legend, 37, couldn’t hide his delight last night as he admitted it was “a dream come true” to join the Scottish champions. He posted on Instagram: “A dream come true to sign for a club with such a rich legacy as Celtic. Excited to be part of this historic club and follow in the footsteps of giants. A new journey starts, can’t wait to get to work!”

And some of the Leicester City icon’s past and present teammates were quick to send their best wishes as they congratulated Schmeichel on the move to Glasgow.
Manchester United striker and Danish pal Rasmus Hoejlund simply replied with fire and clapping emojis, while Spurs midfielder and ex-Foxes star James Maddison commented: “Good luck my mate.” Chelsea ace Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall responded: “All the best my man.”

Ben Foster said: “Brilliant mate!!” shortly before Man United’s Jonny Evans remarked: “All the best Kasper.” Former Old Trafford star Nemanja Matic wrote: “Good luck man” and ex-Liverpool keeper Adrian added: “Good luck man.”
The move sees Schmeichel reunited with Brendan Rodgers after the pair worked together at Leicester City. The Hoops boss said: “I am really pleased to bring Kasper to Celtic. He is a real quality keeper and someone with the ability and personality to be great for us.
“He is a guy I trust and someone who knows how to win. He lives for football and he is coming to a club where he will feel the same passion that he has for the game. I know he will feel right at home at Celtic and we look forward to working with him as we all aim for more success.”
