DONE DEAL: Rangers sign another superb defender in record-Breaking Transfer…

According to a report from the the Gers skipper is now being targeted by clubs in England who are looking to hijack his proposed move to Turkey.

Tavernier was the subject of a bid from Turkish club Trabzonspor.

And now it appears that clubs from south of the border are also keen to secure his signature this summer.

Tavernier has two years remaining on his current contract at Ibrox but there is a feeling that he could be sold if the right offer comes in.

Philippe Clement is trying to build a squad to his own taste, and he has made it clear that no player at the Glasgow club is indispensable. Everyone has a price, and the club would be looking to sell if that price is met.

While reports in Turkey suggest that he has already accepted a two-year contract to leave Ibrox, such speculations seem wide of the mark.

Trabzonspor want to reunite the 32-year-old with former teammates Borna Barisic and John Lundstram, both joining them on a free transfer this summer.

At the moment, it is unclear which English clubs have registered interest in signing Tavernier. He has been heavily linked with a move to be reunited with his former manager, Steven Gerrard, at Saudi Pro League club Al-Ettifaq.

Besiktas boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst is also interested in signing him. So, there’s a lot of competition at the moment, and Rangers should look to sell the right-back to the highest bidder if it comes down to that route.
