Kasper Schmeichel has bid an emotional farewell to Anderlecht – paving the way for his Celtic move to be confirmed.
The experienced goalkeeper has already passed his medical ahead of a free transfer switch to Parkhead and been flown out to the USA for the pre-season training camp. That suggested an announcement was imminent and it may just have moved even closer as he said goodbye to his former club.
Schmeichel was with the Belgian giants for just one season after moving from French top slight side Nice, where he also spent just one campaign. Prior to that he was a mainstay at Leicester for 11 years, winning the Premier League title in 2015-16 and an FA Cup, under Brendan Rodgers, in 2020-21.
