Defender Murillo has revealed he was approached by other Premier League clubs before he signed for Nottingham Forest last year.
The Brazilian joined the Reds from Corinthians 12 months ago and went on to have a sparkling first season in English football. He has described it as “living a dream”.
Such form has led to a string of teams eyeing up a move for the centre-back this summer. Forest came through last month’s accounting deadline without having to consider letting him go for a cut-price fee, but Murillo has said himself that his future Trentside is still uncertain.
It could be that at some point the Reds have a decision to make, if a suitable offer comes in. But had the 22-year-old gone down a different path before deciding to head to the City Ground in an £11 million deal, it could all have been a very different story.
When things are good, we get used to them very quickly,” he told Resenha ESPN (via Premier League Brasil). “I knew the responsibility I was taking on because it has always been my dream to play in the Premier League. Ever since I had the first contact, when there were these inquiries from clubs in England, I was very happy.”
“But the one that really came was Nottingham Forest. For me, I’m living a dream.”
Murillo has now been reunited with former Corinthians teammate Carlos Miguel. The Brazilian goalkeeper became Forest’s fourth summer signing earlier this week.
Speaking about his future in a separate interview earlier this month, Murillo said: “We don’t know anything for certain, the window opened last month so I’m going to return to Nottingham Forest for pre-season. There might be some discussions on whether I’ll stay or not so there’s a lot of things to happen still but I’m relaxed.”
