Daniel Farke sack latest: O’Rourke shares Leeds United update

Leeds United’s board are in no panic about Daniel Farke and the club’s promotion prospects this term, sources have told Football Insider.

The Whites sit third in the Championship after losing 1-0 away at Blackburn on Saturday (30 November).

Farke’s side have managed just three wins from nine away games in the second tier this term, prompting new concerns in the club’s fanbase and with pundits.

Sources say the Ewood Park defeat is regarded as “disappointing” by the Leeds hierarchy, but they still feel the German is the right man to take the club back to the Premier League.

The Whites are still in good form overall as the busy festive period prepares to kick off in the second tier, and it is believed there will be no knee-jerk reaction after the first 18 league games of the new season.

Farke failed to achieve promotion in his first season at Elland Road, losing the play-off final against Southampton at Wembley after finishing third in the regular season.

This term, Leeds sit third once again behind relegated Sheffield United and Burnley.

Farke not in imminent sack danger at Leeds United

Football Insider revealed on Monday (2 December) that the Yorkshire giants are preparing to make more money available to Farke for the January transfer window.

Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev are long-term injury absentees at Elland Road after establishing themselves as crucial last season.

Leeds are next in action against Derby in a Saturday (7 December) lunchtime kickoff.

The Whites then travel to fifth-place Middlesbrough next week (10 December).

There are concerns at the club that Junior Firpo will not sign a new contract if the Yorkshire giants fail to gain promotion to the Premier League this season.

With Firpo’s deal expiring next summer, Leeds are now looking to find a potential long-term replacement and have identified Svensson as an option.
